Nicole Guedj

After a career as lawyer specializing in human rights, Nicole Guedj was Secretary of State for real-estate justice programs (2004), then Secretary of State for victim’s rights (2004-05). Within the government, she has notably initiated the institution of an abduction alert system in France and the establishment of 08VICTIMES, a national hotline designed to inform victims of their rights. After the Tsunami, she convinced the French President to transmit her proposal of the creation of the Red Helmets Foundation to the United Nations, which was subsequently accepted by Kofi Annan.  She also acted as National Secretary of UMP for humanitarian action and human rights, Regional Councilor of Île-de-France, and as a member of the French National Commission for Human Rights (CNCDH). Engaged in community outreach, she has served as the President of the Red Helmets Foundation since 2006 and at the head of the Fondation France Israël since 2009. A Knight of the Légion d’Honneur and an Officer of the Ordre National du Mérite. Today, Nicole Guedj is working again as an attorney.
